CSA Contract
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) in Saskatchewan
Organic farmer Keith Neu started the "Eco-Farm" Community Supported Agriculture project in Saskatchewan in 2007 after being an organic farmer since 1989.
Community Supported Agriculture projects like Keith's promote local, healthy food sources. There are many advantages behind becoming a member of a CSA project. You can feel good knowing that the food you receive has not had to travel very far, thus you are supporting local business, encouraging environmentally sustainable farming practices, and reducing your carbon footprint all at the same time! On top of that you know you have a reliable source of fresh, organic, and most of all - delicious food. Members become shareholders in the farm by signing year-long contracts to receive orders of food once a month in the winter and twice a month in the summer. This includes vegetables, eggs, chicken and beef, plus a variety of herbs, pickles, sauerkraut and homemade perogies!
The time has come to sign up for 2009!
The Eco-Farm CSA, which currently has about 60 members in Regina and Saskatoon, is welcoming new members for 2009. One of them could be YOU! Etomami Organics has a wide range of food available, so do not miss this opportunity to get organic Saskatchewan grown vegetables, eggs and meat delivered to your neighbourhood.
This is how it works:
Fill out the contract and choose the food that you want:
o Fill out the garden produce list. The CSA tries to give customers enough to eat (weather permitting) so they don't have to go to the store, and uses the Statistics Canada Consumption Guide for a benchmark.
o Fill out the quantities of Beef, Sausage, Roasting Chickens, and Eggs that you would like
o All beef is grass-fed. Beef will be cut into steaks: t bone, rib, sirloin, round; Roasts: blade cross-rib, sirloin tip, round, eye of round, and trim into ground beef (using 60% of the animal). You will get a variety of cuts per month, more steaks in summer, more roasts in winter. You can pre-order special cuts of beef such as liver, tongue, heart etc.
o Pastured poultry will be between 4 and 7 lb. - order what size you want
Mail the contract to Keith along with 12 post-dated cheques (starting May 1, 2009). Make cheques payable to Keith Neu and send to Box 345, Hudson Bay, SK. S0E 0Y0
The cost is a full produce box for $120 (2 adults+ kids) or a half box $60 (1 adult +kids) per month, with meat and eggs extra.
